SADIE BROOKS RORRER

Sadie Brooks Rorrer, 74 years old, Hayes, Va., was called to Heaven on Saturday, Nov. 3, 2012, with her loving family by her side.

Sadie was born Nov. 1, 1938 and spent most of her life in Gloucester. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alexander Brooks and Flossie Louise West; sons, Dennis and Joseph Morse, and brother, Arthur Brooks.

She leaves behind her beautiful memory to her best friend and husband of 37 years, Grover (Rick); her loving children, Johnny Morse of Chester, Michael Morse, Teresa Weaver and Juanita Halliday, each of Hayes; sisters, Gladys Clark and Mary McKinney of Gloucester, and Esther Johnson of Williamsburg. She also leaves behind 13 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren (with two more on the way), and a host of nieces and nephews.

Sadie was employed by Loweman’s Court/Wolftrap Landfill for more than 30 years working for a wonderful boss and friend, Randy Bryant. She looked forward to going to work and loved when her friends occasionally came by for coffee and a chat. She loved to take road trips with her husband—sometimes just packing their bags and not telling anyone where they were going; they were just spending time together and having fun.

Her real joy was her family. She adored her children, thought her grandchildren were perfect, and was convinced that her great-grandchildren could do no wrong.

She was a kind, thoughtful, loving, and courageous mother, grandmother, wife, sister, aunt, and friend. She embraced everyone and won their hearts with the smile that will forever remain in our memories.

The family received friends from 6:30-8 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 5 at Andrews Funeral Home in Gloucester. A graveside service was held Tuesday, Nov. 6 at 2 p.m. at Parklawn Memorial Park.

Memorial donations may be made to Sadie Rorrer in care of Andrews Funeral Home.
