SABRINA WALKER POWELL

Sabrina Walker Powell, age 51, of Gloucester, died May 24, 2013.

Sabrina was a 1979 graduate of Gloucester High School, member of Beech Grove Baptist Church, as well as the Virginia Country Music Association.

At the age of 16, “Sabrina and the Country Sensations,” a six-member band, started singing professionally. They recorded their first two songs composed by Sabrina in West Virginia. From Donk’s Theatre in Mathews, to Nashville, Tenn., this young country singer entertained individuals across the states with the very best of country singers.

Selflessly devoted to her family, community and friends, her goodness and strikingly beautiful voice will always be remembered. She was preceded in death by her father, Joseph M. Walker

Survivors include her husband, Eric Allison Powell; mother, Melinda Walker; sister, Cynthia Dea and husband David, and nephew, Daniel Dea.

Graveside services conducted by the Rev. Bob Robbins were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 29, 2013, at Beech Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Sabrina’s family received friends at Hogg Funeral Home, Tuesday May 28, 2013, from 7-8:30 p.m.
