Ruth White Duke, 94, of Virginia Beach, died on November 7, 2022.

She was a native of Mathews County and graduated in 1944 from Thomas Hunter High School, Mathews, as valedictorian. She received her Master of Arts Degree in business education from New York University in 1951.

She was predeceased by her parents, George and Lucille White, and her husband of 53 years, Everette L. Duke.

Survivors include two sons, Everette L. Duke Jr. and Cecil Duke; two sisters, Evelyn W. Brissette and Dr. Sylvia W. Keene; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

A viewing will be held from 2-5 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 15, at Graves Funeral Home, Norfolk. The funeral will begin at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 16, in Bank Street Memorial Baptist Church, Norfolk.
