Ruth Jayne Hornsby, 79, of Hayes, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 1, 2018, at her home surrounded by her family.

Mrs. Hornsby was born in Hampton and grew up in Dandy before moving to Hayes in 1972. She retired from Boulevard Cleaner.

Ruth was a preceded in death by her son, William B. Hornsby Jr.; her parents, Adolphus and Minnie Morgan; a brother, Syphron Crockett, and a sister, June Musick.

She is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, William Bernley Hornsby Sr.; a daughter, Loralie J. Seawell (James) of Hayes; two sons, Roger W. Hornsby (Lisa) of West Point and Robert A. Hornsby (Cindy) of Gloucester Point; a brother, Arthur Lee Morgan of Dandy, along with seven grandchildren, Robert Hornsby Jr. (Samantha), Bradley, Morgan (Al), Jessica (Logan), Taylor, Brittany and Alexander, and four great-grandchildren, Colton, James, Miranda and Landon.

The family received friends on Tuesday from 7-8 p.m. in Amory Funeral Home. A graveside service was held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2018, in Peninsula Memorial Park.
