Ruth Anne Ray, age 68, passed away on March 30, 2011.

She was a native of Gwynn’s Island, Mathews County, and a resident of Florida since 2004. She retired from Eastern State Hospital, and worked for Bavon Post Office for a number of years.

She is survived by her husband, William Ray Jr. of Dade City, Fla.; two brothers-in-law, Ronnie and James Ray; a niece, Carol Norvel; a nephew, Charles Bensten, both of Virginia Beach, and "special" friends, Virginia McDaniel and Mary Ray.

The family received friends on Sunday, April 3, 2011, from 7-9 p.m. at Foster-Faulkner Funeral Home, Mathews. A funeral service was held Monday, April 4, 2011, at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with burial in Gwynn’s Island Cemetery.
