Run for the Fallen comes through Gloucester today

The fourth annual Virginia Run for the Fallen, which honors and remembers fallen Virginia military service members, will be making its way through Gloucester today.

A team of more than 30 active duty military members from bases throughout Virginia and other locations across the U.S. will embark on a 240 plus-mile journey to honor every Virginia service member who died as a result of serving during the War on Terror and in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, Enduring Freedom and New Dawn, a release stated.

The run begins at Fort Story and finishes on Sunday afternoon at Arlington National Cemetery. The runners are expected to arrive at Gloucester Point around 2:30 p.m., with the first day of the run ending in Saluda. From there, the runners will be driven to American Legion Post 75 on Route 17 at White Marsh for a dinner in their honor at 7:30 p.m.
