Ruby Rowe Akins passed peacefully at the age of 89 on Monday, Oct. 8, 2018.

She was the lone surviving child of 11 children, and a native of Gwynn’s Island, Virginia.

She attended Buxton School of Nursing. She faithfully attended the Church of the Nazarene and loved her Lord and family. She loved a good ballgame, working in her yard and garden. She had a good wit and loved life.

She was predeceased by her parents, Addie Diggs and George Vernon Rowe; husband, Bill Akins, and a special nephew, Kenneth W. Williams.

She is survived by a dear niece, Shirley W. Hudgins, and many other nieces and nephews.

A graveside service was held on Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2018, at 3 p.m. at the Gwynn’s Island Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Church of the Nazarene, Pastor Dave McKnight, P.O. Box 246, Hudgins, Va. 23076.

Faulkner Funeral Homes, Foster-Faulkner Chapel, Mathews, assisted the family with the arrangements.
