GHS women’s first four posts another win

The Gloucester High School crew sent seven boats to the Regional Park Regatta at Occoquan last weekend and achieved a pair of wins, including another for the undefeated women’s first four.

The GHS first four of Kristen Hickman, Elizabeth Keane, Kendall Worland, Elaina Arsenovic and coxswain Matt Hendrix won their heat in 5:53, posting the second fastest heat time overall behind McLean. In the final, the Gloucester girls pulled a 5:49 to win, 3.4 seconds ahead of the McLean challengers.

The junior four of Hannah Beverage, Katie Ale, Rebeka Turner and Hannah Cagle, with coxswain Kyle Mielnik, were second in their heat but had a slower time in the final and finished fourth in 6:37.2.

On the men’s side, the junior four of Jacob Cheatham, Joel Kidd, Adam Hedrick, Jeremy Frush and Mielnik at coxswain cruised to a win in their race by a 10-second margin. The first four of Logan Hutson, David Collins, Ch...
