Rowe seeks reelection to Mathews board

Incumbent supervisor Mike Rowe, 70, of North is one of five candidates running for the Mathews County Board of Supervisors in the upcoming election.

Rowe was appointed as interim supervisor two years ago when supervisor Pepper Love resigned from the board, and was elected to the board that November to serve the remaining two years of Love’s term.

A Mathews native and 1969 graduate of Mathews High School, Rowe said he wants to ensure good, fiscally responsible governance of the county.

There are a number of projects that Rowe said he would like to see through, including development of the East River Boat Yard and finishing the Main Street streetscape.

The county needs to invest in its building infrastructure, he said. A new firehouse is needed to replace Station 1 in the Court House, and Mathews Social Services needs larger quarters. On top of that, he would like to see a combined school and county transportation facility in new quarters.
