Route 17 traffic light to be installed soon at Page MS

Construction work is about to begin on the traffic signal project at the intersection of Route 17 and T.C. Walker Road (Route 628) in Gloucester near the new Page Middle School. The traffic signal and roadway improvements in that area are all expected to be completed before the start of the new school year.

Kelly Hannon, communications manager for the Virginia Department of Transportation’s Fredericksburg District which includes Gloucester and Mathews counties, said Tuesday that motorists should soon begin to notice work starting on the concrete foundations for the traffic signal poles. That work can take 45-60 days to complete, she said, due to the amount of time required for setting and testing of these foundations.

“At the very end of this work, the signal will be installed and activated,” Hannon said. “Motorists can expect to see it activated this summer, in time for the beginning of the school year in fall 2015.”
