ROSLYN FORREST JOHNSON

Roslyn Forrest Johnson of Susan, the widow of Clifton Johnson, passed Wednesday, August 21, 2013.

A member of Antioch Baptist Church, Susan, she was active in the music ministry, serving as a musician for many years. She also sang with the Senior Choir and the Ladies Ensemble of Antioch and was a member of the former Mathews Neighborhood Choir.

She retired from the Mathews County School System as a Certified Instructional Aide.

She was predeceased by parents, George Rufus and Violette Virginia Brownley Forrest; brother, George Gregory Maurice Forrest, and “brother,” Carl Eugene Thomas.

Roslyn leaves to cherish her memory three children, V. Cavell Johnson, Vonzella Cilento Johnson and Clifton Cedric Johnson; three grandsons, Allen, Louis and Steven Johnson; one “grandson,” Sedgwick Easley; three great-grandsons, Joshua, Nicholas and Donovan; one “great-granddaughter,” Jade; “sister”/cousin, Jean Barber (Ernest) and their children, Verneda Campbell and Weldon Barber; in-laws, Margaret Forrest, Ophelia Forrest (George), Gladys White (Shepherd), and M. Stanley Johnson, Sr. (Nancy), nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Homegoing service was held Tuesday, August 27, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Antioch Baptist Church, 110 Antioch Road, Susan, Va. 23163. Viewing was Monday, August 26, 2013, from 6-8 p.m. at the church. Interment was in church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers and food, memorial contributions in her honor, may be made to the Mathews Volunteer Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 723, Mathews, Va. 23109 or the Antioch Baptist Church Endowment Fund, P.O. Box 124, Susan, Va. 23163.
