RONALD W. CLINE

Ronald W. Cline of Gloucester, passed away on Saturday, August 30, 2025, surrounded by family at the age of 63. Ron was born on May 7, 1962, in Fairbanks, Alaska, to Hollis “Pete” Stuart and Barbara Cline. Ron’s father was in the Air Force, and as a result, he lived in various places, including Chandler, Ariz., Charleston, S.C., Woomera, Australia, and finally, upon his father’s retirement, Yorktown, Va. Ron graduated from Tabb High School in 1980, followed by an apprenticeship with the Daily Press as a pressman beginning in 1984. He then went on to work at Cavalier Cabinets, R. Finney Corp., and Nicewood, a division of David Nice Builders, for 34 years as Safety and Machine Maintenance supervisor. He was an antique car enthusiast, especially of the 1955-1957 Chevrolet models. He loved the outdoors, enjoying activities such as hunting and fishing. He was highly skilled in all mechanical aspects, having acquired his knowledge primarily through self-study, supplemented by some professional training and certifications. He was a born-again Christian and was baptized at the age of 12 in a swimming pool in Woomera, Australia. He was a very active member of Beech Grove Baptist Church, where he served as a Sunday School Director. Ron was preceded in death by his father, Hollis “Pete” Stuart Cline; his paternal grandparents, Wade and Mossy Cline; his maternal grandparents, Luther and Eva Lamm; and his mother-in-law, Joyce A. Updike. Ron is survived by his loving wife, Gina; mother, Barbara Cline; brother, Gary Cline (Shann); sister-in-law, Pamela K. Hoover (Philip); brother-in-law, Gary Updike, and father-in-law, Paul Updike. Also survived by his nephews, Landon Blankenship, Cody Cline; nieces, Jessica Hoover, Cristen Hansen (Drew), Stephanie Hoover. Uncles, David Cline, Benny Lamm, and William Lamm, great-nephew, Hayes Hoover, and great-niece, Amelia Hansen, also survive him. The family will receive friends at Hogg Funeral Home on Thursday, September 4, 2025, from 6-7 p.m. The funeral service will be held at Beech Grove Baptist Church on Friday, September 5, 2025, at 11 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Dr. Richard Croxton. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. In memory of Ronald, contributions may be made to Beech Grove Baptist Church, 4073 Cedar Bush Road, White Marsh, Va. 23183.
