Romney, Paul only candidates on Virginia ballot

Virginia’s Republican presidential primary, part of the Super Tuesday series of contests covering 10 states, will be held next week. Polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday throughout the commonwealth.

Only two of the four Republican candidates still vying for the nomination—Texas Congressman Ron Paul and former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney—will appear on Virginia ballots.

Newt Gingrich, former Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives and former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum are also currently in the running for the nomination, but did not satisfy all of the candidate qualification requirements stated in Virginia code to make it onto the ballot.

Voting precincts in Gloucester will remain the same as they were during last November’s general election.
