ROLAND WINFORD MARSH

Roland Winford Marsh Jr., 83, of Yorktown, formerly of Gloucester, passed away on Friday, May 17, 2024. He was born in Baltimore, Maryland. He was the son of the late Roland, Sr., and Doris Marsh, and was the widower of Judith Lee Marsh and Dona Marsh. He was a former member of Salem United Methodist Church in Gloucester and is a member of Tabernacle United Methodist Church in Poquoson, Va., where he was a strong supporter of the OpenDoor Service, and was a member of Botetourt Masonic Lodge #7 AF&AM.

He retired from the Social Security office in Woodlawn, Md., in 1991 after 32 years of service. He then worked for several car dealerships including Williamsburg Ford and retired from Bill Hudgins Automotive, Gloucester, Va., as finance officer with 20 years of service.

Roland was an avid sportsman and was coach for his sons’ baseball team. He was an avid fan of the Orioles and Ravens. Roland always wanted everyone to smile and had a wonderful outlook on life.

He was also preceded in death by his sister, Carol Church, and is survived by his sons, Michael Alan Marsh (Amy Elizabeth Stefhon) and Jeffery Dean Marsh Sr. (Donna); stepdaughter, Amy Beshgetoorian (Harry); stepson, Walter Trighan; brother, Nicholas Clay Marsh; significant other Rita Staul, seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at Tabernacle United Methodist Church on Monday, May 27, 2024, at 11 a.m. Memorial donations may be made to Tabernacle United Methodist Church, 831 Poquoson Ave., Poquoson, Va. 23662. Andrews Funeral Home, Gloucester, is in charge of arrangements.
