Rocket Sauce robot ready for competition

The Mathews Robotics Team, also known as Rocket Sauce, stopped work Tuesday on its robot in accordance with the 2017 FIRST STEAMWORKS Robotics Competition rules.

The team has been meeting every day for six weeks in its building behind Mathews High School designing and building the robot and getting it ready for next month’s competition.

This year’s team consists of 12 students, 10 mentors, and a mascot. To learn more about the 2017 FIRST STEAMWORKS competition, check out the team’s website at http://firstteam1137.com/first/firststeamworks2017.

Rocket Sauce will compete in its first match on March 3-5 at Battlefield High School in Haymarket. The second match will be March 17-19 at Churchland High School in Portsmouth.  The District Championship will be at the VCU Siegel Center in Richmond on April 5-8.
