Rocket Sauce places second in First Chesapeake competition

Mathews High School Team 1137 Rocket Sauce soared to new heights in last weekend’s robotics competition by placing second in the Edgewater, Md. FIRST Chesapeake competition.

Similar to the previous weekend, Rocket Sauce competed in 12 qualification matches, of which the team won 10. Rocket Sauce advanced to the quarterfinals, semifinals and finals, but lost out at the finals to Team 836, the Robo Bees from Hollywood, Md. 

Team Rocket Sauce won two awards at the event—District Finalist and an Industrial Design Award from General Motors—which celebrates form and function in an efficiently-designed machine that effectively addresses the game challenge.   

The match results can be found online at www.thebluealliance.com/team/1137/2016. Rocket Sauce now advances to the FIRST Chesapeake District Championship at College Park, Md., on April 7-9 to compete against 57 teams from across Virginia, Maryland and the District of Columbia.
