The beauty of a rose paled in her presence—Robin Lea Musser of Gloucester, died at her home, surrounded by her family on Saturday, Oct. 15, 2022. Robin was born in Fort Hood, Texas, the daughter of the late Col. Theo and Amelia Epperson. Robin graduated from Carroll High School in Ozark, Alabama, in 1983, where she was a football cheerleader, and was crowned Miss Ozark, then attended Wade College of Fashion Merchandise in Dallas, Texas. She and her husband John married on Feb. 17, 2001, in Eufaula, Alabama, before moving back to and making their life and home together, in Gloucester, for 22 years. Robin volunteered as a cheerleading coach, coaching her girls, and so many of their friends. She served as a substitute teacher in the Gloucester School system and was always volunteering and ever-present at all her daughters’ school functions. With her husband John, she enjoyed mountain biking, riding her Harley, kayaking, and motorhome travel and adventure. She loved summers on their boat as a family, on any body of water in the sun, waterskiing, and wakeboarding. Robin was a talented and amazing homemaker, with a keen and sought-after eye for interior decorating. More than all things, however, her twin daughters and everything about their lives were her life’s gem and delight. She was a faithful, loved, and adored parishioner of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, and loved her converted faith, and the Almighty Creator.
Diagnosed with Young Onset Alzheimer’s in December of 2017, she courageously carried on and lived out her life with a rare grace, peace and dignity under such a terminal circumstance, accepting her fate and the suffering struggle of it, with unrivaled beauty, and humor was always a critical element in her coping and comfort, for herself and others. She was often moved to tears by the Love and Compassion that was endlessly poured on her by friends, family, and strangers, alike. She’s survived by her loving and devoted husband, John R. Musser III; twin daughters, Kelsey Copeland of Richmond, and Cassady Smith (David) of Gloucester; granddaughters, Rainie and Emery Smith; brother, Randy Epperson (Renee), and family of Headland, Alabama. The family will receive friends on Friday, Oct. 21, 2022, from 5-7 p.m. at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 315 Harris Grove Lane, Yorktown, Va. 23692. The funeral mass will be held Saturday, Oct. 22, 2022, at 10 a.m. in the church. The interment will be private. Please consider memorial contributions to the Alzheimer’s Association, http://act.alz.org/goto/RobinMusser supporting their active participation in their efforts to cure this, to date, incurable and cruelest of diseases.
