Robert Wayne Hill, 63, of Hayes, died March 19, 2016 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

He was a member of Groves Memorial Presbyterian Church. Wayne was a third generation waterman having a deep appreciation and love for the water. He enjoyed wood carving, making many beautiful lighthouses and boats. His favorite Sunday afternoon pastime was coming back to the homeplace and sitting under the big oak tree with family and friends. He was a wonderful family person and friend to everyone. He will be missed.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Jean Hill; parents, Carbet and Catherine Hill, and brother, Samuel Hill.

He is survived by sisters, Goldie Rowe and Mary West and husband Johnnie; brothers, Roger L. Hill and wife Barbara, William Hill and wife Mary Jane, and Billy Hill and wife Dianne; a special niece, Sharon Kay Jenkins, along with a host of other family, and his wonderful canine companion, Gracie.

Funeral services conducted by the Rev. Judy Stanley were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 23, 2016, at Groves Memorial Presbyterian Church, 9117 Glass Road, Hayes. Interment followed in the church cemetery. The family received friends Tuesday, March 22, 2016, from 7-8:30 p.m. at Hogg Funeral Home, Gloucester Point.
