ROBERT THOMAS DRUMMOND

Robert Thomas Drummond of Colonial Beach, was born on April 2, 1921 to the late Mattie Blanche Walker and Robert D. Drummond. On Monday, Sept. 8, 2014 at 1 p.m., he was called home by his savior.

He was raised by his grandmother, the late Shellie Robinson Drummond, who insisted that he receive his Christian and academic education; as a result of her guidance, he attended Bethel Baptist Church and received his education in the public school system in Gloucester, Va.

As a young man, he was joined in holy matrimony to Lessie Catlett and to that union four daughters were born. He worked at the Naval Weapons Station in Yorktown, Va., and later moved to New York.

In 1988, Robert married Virginia Bushrod and moved back to the state of Virginia. He joined the Macedonia Baptist Church, where he worked diligently as a member of the Deacon’s Ministry, Mass Choir, and president of the Male Chorus.

He leaves behind Virginia, his beautiful cherished wife; his surviving daughters, Marvel Drummond, Janice Murray (Harold), and Shellie Drummond-Cordero (Mark).
