ROBERT MICHAEL RUSSMAN

Robert Michael Russman, 79, of Gloucester, Virginia, died peacefully at Sanders Heron Cove Nursing Home on Monday, October 13, 2025. He was born on November 15, 1945 in Pittsburgh, Pa., and spent most of his life in the Pittsburgh area, serving his country in the U.S. Army in Germany during the Vietnam War.

Bob had been a resident of Gloucester for the last 17 years. He was a professional storyteller who delighted his audiences and was a big hit with students. Bob was also a writer, and loved watching movies, rooting for his favorite sports teams (the Pirates and the Steelers), playing cards, chess, and elaborate board games, some of which he created.

Bob grew up in a large close-knit family. A lifelong Catholic, he was an active member of the Church of St. Therese in Gloucester. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Mary Russman. Survivors include his siblings, Edward Russman (Eileen) of Beaver Falls, Pa., Thomas Russman (Bonnie) of Charlottesville, Va., Sandy Russman Fohs of Cumming, Ga., Cheryl Russman Davis (Bob) of Ware Neck, Va., Donna Brisse (Patrick) of Tucker, Ga., and Joseph Russman Dietz (Mary) of Granger, Ind., and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12 noon on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, at the Church of St. Therese at 6262 Main Street, Gloucester, Va. 23061. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Bob’s memory be made to the American Cancer Society or the Gloucester Mathews Care Clinic in Gloucester.
