ROBERT MARK HOUSTON

Robert Mark Houston (Bob), 66, of Gloucester, died unexpectedly on May 8, 2025 at home. Bob was born on March 11, 1959 to Charles and Goldie Houston in Greensburg, Pa.

He graduated from Latrobe High School and immediately joined the United States Air Force, where he proudly served for eight years. During his time in the USAF, he traveled the world, ending his service at Langley AFB, Hampton, Va.

After his military career, he spent 35 years plus in the construction industry. Bob was an avid gardener. He made many varieties of pickles earning him the nickname of “Pickleman” or Pickle Bob.” His pickles were entered in the Gloucester County Fair for years, winning three years in a row first- place awards.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Donald, and stepson, Brad Perkins. He is survived by his wife, Connie Owens Houston, of 35 years; son, Jacob Houston (Tess); stepdaughter, Amanda Carter (Josh); eight grandchildren, Zachary, McKinsey, Kingston, Falynn, Owen, Ronnie, Mason, and Kathryn, and siblings, Linda Hoffer, Walter and Wayne Houston.

There will be a memorial service on Friday, May 30, 2025, at Providence Baptist Church, 3501 Providence Road, Hayes, Va., at 1 p.m.

Andrews Funeral Home, Gloucester, is in charge of services.
