Robert Joseph King, age 87, of Gloucester, passed away on Dec. 23, 2020 at Riverside Walter Reed Hospital. He was born on Nov. 10, 1933 in Baltic, Connecticut, to the late George and Olivine Marcille King. Bob grew up in Somers, Connecticut, until April 1954 when he enlisted in the Army and served two years before transferring to the Army Reserve for six additional years. He worked various jobs in Connecticut until he accepted a position at the Army and Air Force Exchange Service in Honolulu, Hawaii. Bob moved to Virginia, and enjoyed riding his Harley, working outside, and taking care of his home. He was a kind man always willing to help anyone who needed a hand. Bob was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 8252 where lasting friendships were made. He was a loving uncle who will forever hold a special place in our hearts. Bob was preceded in death by his sisters, Shirley and Lorraine; brother, Russell; a niece, Susan, and nephews, David and Jason. Survivors include seven nieces in Connecticut. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 15, 2021 at Windsor Gardens Cemetery & Mausoleum, 80 Soles Lane, Dutton, Virginia 23050.
