Robert (Bob) J. Brewster, age 71, of Gloucester, Va., formerly of Pounding Mill, Va., passed away Tuesday, July 31, 2012.

Born Nov. 13, 1940 he was the son of the late Joseph and Katherine Brewster. He was a resident of Tazewell County for most of his life. In 2000, he left Pounding Mill to be closer to his daughters in Gloucester. There he lived the last 12 years of his life enjoying being near his children and grandchildren.

Bob served in the United States Army at Ft. Stewart, Ga., from 1960-1962. He retired from Pittston Coal in 1986. 

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one sister, Sally Hogston.

He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Ann Brewster; his children, Lisa K. Cooper and husband Dave of Gloucester, and Melissa A. Crawford and husband Henry Jr. of Gloucester; grandchildren, Robert Brett Crawford and wife Savanah of Mechanicsville, Va., Joshua Crawford of Gloucester, Todd Cooper and wife Dana of Gloucester, and Tommy Cooper of Gloucester; great-grandchildren, Harrison Taylor, Morgan Cooper and David Cooper; brothers, James Brewster and wife Dorothy of Dundalk, Md., and Dan Brewster of Abingdon, Va.; sister, Jean Wyatt and husband Jim of Lebanon, Va. Bob is also survived and will be dearly missed by his dog, Jackie.

Graveside services were conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 4, 2012 at Greenhills Memory Gardens Mausoleum at Claypool Hill, Va., with the Rev. Barry Jessee officiating. Military graveside rites were conducted by Casey-Shortt VFW Post 9640.  Pallbearers were Jim Wyatt, Woody Grindstaff, Jim Tatum, Steven Tatum, Donnie Nelson and Roger Nelson.

Those attending the graveside service met at the mausoleum at 1 p.m. Saturday.
