March 2, 1958-August 15, 2016

Robert Grills Jones, 58 years young, of Mathews, passed away unexpectedly and peacefully on Monday, August 15, 2016.

Bobby was born on March 2, 1958 in Tennessee. He graduated from Mathews High School and enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving four years. He worked for Ocean Products for 20 years. He loved to play golf, bowl and spend time with his family and friends. 

Bobby will be sadly missed by his mother, Charlotte; siblings, Sands (Christine), Karen Barrick (Tim), Patty White (Gerry), Judy Zanette (Shawn Creed); nephews, Jason Barrick (Mel), Robert Allen (Jessica), Mathew  and Dylann Zanette; nieces,  Ashley Johnson (Jon), Megan Merritt (Casey), Chantelle Zanette (Chris). Also his uncle Gerald Jones (Jo Ann), cousins, Eugene Jones (Melinda), Linda Hernandez and other relatives, and a host of friends. He was predeceased by his father, Gordon Minter Jones.

If friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations would be greatly appreciated and may be made to the Mathews Volunteer Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 723, Mathews, Va. 23109 or to Emmanuel Church, P.O. Box 628, North, Va. 23128.

Visitation was held from 2-3 p.m. on Friday, August 19, 2016, followed by a funeral service at 3 o’clock at Emmanuel United Methodist Church, Bohannon, Va.

Foster-Faulkner Funeral Home, Mathews, was in charge of the arrangements.
