ROBERT EDWARD “BOBBY” CASSELL

Robert Edward “Bobby” Cassell, 50, of Gloucester, died peacefully on Jan. 3, 2017 surrounded by family and friends.

Bobby led an inspirational life that touched everyone he met. A boating accident at the young age of 20 left him paralyzed from the neck down and yet this personal tragedy never dampened his spirit or his bright welcoming smile. To know Bobby was to be constantly amazed by his unwavering positive attitude and sweet gentle spirit.

Bobby had a passion for life, and found joy in his family and friends. An avid lover of sports, (especially NASCAR and the Dallas Cowboys), he was Bill Elliot’s biggest fan and proudly displayed the Cowboys’ logo on his shirts and hats wherever he went.

Bobby is survived by his loving mother, Barbara Buchanan and her husband Wayne of Mathews; brother, Jamie Cassell of Gloucester, and a host of grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends all over the world.

A Requiem Mass will be said in memory of Bobby on Friday, Jan. 6, 11 a.m., at All Saints Anglican Church, Saluda, Virginia, with Fr. Jeff Johnson presiding.

Cremation Society of Virginia is assisting the family.
