Roadside marker to honor Rudy Nuttall

Ware Neck resident Ralph Parkes has spearheaded an effort to remember a beloved man and ensure that his legacy lives on in the small community for generations to come.

Last year, Parkes started a project to honor his father-in-law, the late E.R. "Rudy" Nuttall, with a special roadside marker. With the financial help of family and friends, the sign has received approval from the Gloucester Historical Committee, the state and has also initiated an effort in Gloucester for historical markers to be approved at a local level.

Nuttall owned and operated the general store at Ware Neck Post Office from 1946 until his retirement in 2002. His business, Nuttall & Company, was a significant landmark in Gloucester.

Nuttall was also a popular Ware Neck resident, a business and personal friend to countless residents and visitors.
