Riverside Walter Reed marks 40th anniversary

For the past four decades, Gloucester’s Riverside Walter Reed Hospital has served the residents of the Middle Peninsula. This Sunday, the hospital is throwing a birthday party and everybody’s invited.

Riverside Walter Reed Hospital is observing its 40th year in operation with a community celebration from 2-5 p.m.

The Original Rhondels will be the featured band at the free event, which will be held on the lawn of Main Street and Walter Reed Way—the Main Street entrance to the hospital campus. Parking will be available at nearby Newington Baptist Church.

Food trucks will be on site selling their finest fare, a hospital release said, and beer and wine will be available for purchase. Those attending are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets. No outside food or beverages will be allowed.
