Riverball proceeds help fund downtown revitalization efforts

The Mathews Main Street Committee announced last week that it will have a Riverball this year to raise funds for revitalization efforts in downtown Mathews.

 

No date has been set, but the elegant bi-annual affair is typically held in June at a waterfront estate. The committee was slated to meet this week to discuss securing a location for the event and to begin the planning process.

 

Committee chair Bette Dillehay said that the group has met its obligation to provide matching funds for a grant to pay for the planning portion of Phase I of the VDOT Enhancement Grant the county received to improve sidewalks, drainage, and streetscaping from Brickbat Road to Food Lion.
