Ricky Layne Jenkins Sr., 60, of Hayes, died June 25, 2016 at his home.

While outwardly quiet, he was a strong man who showed kindness to everyone. Ricky was proud to have served in the U.S. Navy, and worked at the Naval Weapons Station, Yorktown. He was hardworking, and loved to fix things. Ricky will be sadly missed by his family, friends and work colleagues.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Brian Jenkins and Charles (Chuckie) Jenkins.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Jackson Jenkins; son, Ricky L. Jenkins Jr. (Jennifer); parents, Charles and Bobbie Jenkins; step-daughters, Valerie Winfree (Norman) and Jennifer Young (Aaron); brothers and sisters, Allen Dale Jenkins (Marie), Marsha Shomburg, Barbara Robins (Earl Jr.), Patty Zereski (Tom), Joseph Jenkins (Beth) and Mark Jenkins (Jennifer).

A celebration of life service conducted by the Rev. Dr. Richard Croxton will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 30, 2016, at Hogg Funeral Home, Gloucester Point. Inurnment will be private. The family will greet friends prior to the service on Thursday, from 10-11, at the funeral home.
