Richard Wayne Holsclaw, 63, of Gloucester, died peacefully on March 31, 2011 at his home.

He was born July 23, 1947 in North Carolina to Gurney and Martha Holsclaw. Richard was employed with Waste Management. He enjoyed operating heavy equipment, especially his bulldozer. Richard loved his family and friends, and will be greatly missed.

He was preceded in death by parents, Gurney and Martha Hicks Holsclaw; son, Johnny Ray Holsclaw, and sister, Irene Freeman.

He is survived by wife, Helen Holsclaw; children, Robert Holsclaw, Sherrie Hogge and husband Jamey, Crystal Winfree and husband William; grandson, Levi Short; sisters, Nora Penland and Pat Pierce.

Funeral services conducted by the Rev. Bill West were held at 2 p.m. Monday at Severn Church, 9066 Robins Neck Road, Gloucester. Interment followed in the church cemetery. The family received friends Sunday from 7-8:30 p.m. at Hogg Funeral Home, Gloucester Point.
