RICHARD FRANKLIN CARMINE SR.

Richard Franklin Carmine Sr., 80, of Hayes, died surrounded by family, July 8, 2016.

Dick was born February 5, 1936 to Charles H. Carmine Jr. and Ella Mae Carmine. A Newport News Apprentice School graduate (1959), he retired after 52 years as a hull designer. He was a longtime member of Providence Baptist Church and also attended LifePointe Christian Church in Williamsburg.

Dick was an avid hunter and fisherman. His kindness and warm heart will be missed by many, and he was a blessing to all that knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Elizabeth S. Carmine.

He is survived by companion, Peggy Boarman; children, Gina C. Kochan (Glenn), Ricky Carmine (Lisa), Angela C. Bowden (Kevin), Michael Troy Carmine and Samantha Shreckengast (Bryan); eight grandchildren, Daniel, Erin, Joshua, Sydney, Rachel, Benjamin, Kaelynn, and Ellie (on the way); sisters, Nellie Haupt, Ann Tillage-Morgan and Judy Tillage (Marion); Peggy’s children, Beverly Bristow (Jimmy), Janet Anderson (Chris), Barbara Green (Patrick Kerns), Joyce Burton (Gary), and Brenda Boarman (Ron Spivey) and their families.

Funeral service conducted by the Rev. Phillip Murdock was held at 4 p.m. Tuesday, July 12, 2016, at Providence Baptist Church, 3501 Providence Road, Hayes. Interment followed in the church cemetery. The family greeted friends Monday, July 11, 2016, from 6-8 p.m. at Hogg Funeral Home, Gloucester Point.
