The Rappahannock Foundation for the Arts will host a performance of Emi Ferguson and Ruckus, a six-member continuo band, at 7:30 p.m. Saturday in the Lancaster Middle School Auditorium.
“Emi Ferguson and Ruckus will present a concert like none other,” promised RFA board president Jamie Tucker. “This ensemble will dispel any notion that Bach is boring. RFA is so fortunate that this creative group of musicians were able to find time in their busy schedule to drive from New York to Kilmarnock and perform for us.”
Ruckus is a continuo group, the Baroque equivalent of a jazz rhythm section, with other members of the group as the soloists. “Their use of authentically accurate Baroque period instruments with their acoustic performance will take you back to the 1600s, but with a bit of 21st century flair,” said Tucker.
Located primarily in the New York City area, Ruckus members are assembled from among the most creative and virtuosic performers in North American early music.
