Rezoning sought in Gloucester for proposed urgent care facility

The Gloucester County Planning Commission will hold public hearings on two rezoning applications during a meeting next Thursday, Sept. 6, in the colonial courthouse. The meeting begins at 7:30 p.m., with the hearings to begin at 7:45.

Planning director Anne Ducey-Ortiz said that owner James K. and Deborah B. Lockwood want to rezone property near Short Lane from Suburban Countryside (SC-1) to Business (B-1). The site is approximately 1½ acres.

The application said the property is located at 6567 George Washington Memorial Highway, which is on the east side of Route 17, just south of Short Lane and immediately adjacent to the building that housed the state Department of Motor Vehicles office for a number of years.

Ducey-Ortiz reported to the commission at its Aug. 2 meeting that a contract purchaser, PR Holdings, LLC, wants to construct and operate an "MD Express," an urgent care medical facility affiliated with Riverside Health System, at the site.
