REV. WILLIAM CHARLES HOFFMAN

The Rev. William Charles Hoffman, 93, of Norfolk, died on May 20, 2017. 

He was an eloquent preacher, an independent thinker, a passionate idealist, and a loving father.

He was married to the late Carmen Fitchett Hoffman, and is survived by his sister, Martha Hoffman Scott of Norfolk; his three children, Betsy Hoffman of Norfolk, Mary Hoffman-Crook of Mathews, and William Hoffman Jr. of Newport News; four grandchildren, Lucy Crook Harbert, Paul Crook, Caroline Taylor, and Isabelle Taylor, and four great-grandchildren.  

Father Hoffman’s funeral will be held on June 10, 2017 at St. Bride’s Episcopal Church, 621 Sparrow Road, Chesapeake, Va. 23325, at 11 a.m. A reception will follow the service in the church Social Hall. Burial will be held privately at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made in honor of Father Hoffman to the St. Bride’s Living Memorial Fund, St. Bride’s Episcopal Church, 621 Sparrow Road, Chesapeake, Va. 23325.
