Rev. Okello named pastor of Central UMC

Central United Methodist Church, Mathews, welcomes the Rev. Fred Okello as its new pastor. He was born and raised in the rural western regions of Kenya in East Africa. His wife, Carren, graduated from Grand Canyon University and has been teaching math at Mathews High School for the past four years. He has four children: Steve, Yvonne, Stanley and Marvin. Steve is in the Navy and currently stationed in Norfolk. Yvonne is a nursing student at Grand Canyon University. Stanley will be a high school senior this fall, while Marvin will be a sophomore. His education includes a Bachelor of Bible and Theology from Global University, a Master of Business Administration at Eastern Mennonite University, and doctoral student at the National University in California. He has been in ministry for over 26 years, preaching and teaching the gospel of Jesus Christ. For a good number of years, he was in international locations.
