Residents asked to report sturgeon sightings

Researchers at the Virginia Institute of Marine Science, Gloucester Point, are asking local residents to report sightings of a sturgeon when they jump out of the water, called breaching.
A release said that VIMS staff wants to gain a better understanding of the location and behavior of Atlantic sturgeon in Chesapeake Bay and it is tributaries and needs the public’s help in gathering any evidence of a sturgeon breach.
