Republican primary to be held Tuesday

Voters across Virginia will pick a Republican candidate for the U.S. Senate on Tuesday; while in Gloucester, two GOP hopefuls are vying for that party’s endorsement for sheriff.

All registered voters across the Commonwealth are eligible to participate in Tuesday’s Republican primary, regardless of party affiliation. All voting precincts in Gloucester and Mathews will be open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.

In Gloucester, voters will have an opportunity to cast their ballots for the Republican candidate for sheriff who will face off against independent challengers in the Nov. 6 general election.

Darrell Warren, who took over as sheriff after Steve Gentry resigned just weeks after he won a second term citing personal reasons, will face off against Jim Ledbetter Jr., a former lieutenant with the GSO.
