Route 17 northbound is reduced to a single lane at the bridge over Dragon Run at the Gloucester County and Middlesex County line for emergency repairs to fix damage caused by a tractor-trailer striking the bridge rail and guardrail last Thursday. The northbound right lane is closed for the safety of the traveling public and to provide space for crews to repair the bridge rail and guardrail. Virginia Department of Transportation crews inspected the bridge after the crash. The left Route 17 northbound lane remains open to traffic on the Dragon Run bridge. Southbound Route 17 traffic crosses Dragon Run on a separate bridge, and both southbound lanes remain open. Repair work is anticipated to take place over the next several days.
