Rejoice on the River returns Sunday in final free concert

The Rejoice on the River Concert Series is back for the final free concert of the summer series, with music beginning at 6 p.m. Sunday at Williams Wharf Landing in Mathews.
Shades of Country and friends from Virginia’s Li’l Ole Opry will headline the concert, and there will be special performances by local artists, The Kellum Family Singers and Shield of Faith, the latter featuring Michele Thacker, Romie Vaught and Joe Magyar.
The music will include gospel, bluegrass, contemporary hymns, “and so much more,” said organizer Jill Hammond in a press release.
Gates open at 5:30 p.m., with food available for purchase by The Seafood Shack, Positive Pizza and Short Lane Ice Cream. Hammond said that safety is the organizers’ first priority.
