Registration underway for Dragon Run paddle trips

Registration for summer Dragon Run paddle trips on Dragon Run opened Wednesday on DragonRun.org. The paddle trips are conducted by Friends of Dragon Run in the spring, summer and fall, weather permitting.

This year’s summer paddle season will begin on July 21 and end Aug. 2. Trips will be conducted every day except Wednesdays, which are reserved for group paddles. Each trip will accommodate eight guests.

Paddle trips will begin at Big Island, a FODR property located in King and Queen County. The round trips will leave from and return to the same location where guests parked their cars.

“Summer is a wonderful time to paddle the Dragon,” FODR president Jeff Wright said. “Summer shows another face of the Dragon when the foliage is lush, pickerel weed and roses are in bloom, butterflies and birds abound, and turtles can be seen hanging out on logs.”
