Registration being accepted for Mathews Christmas Parade

Registration is now being accepted for this year’s Mathews Christmas Parade, to be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 12, in downtown Mathews. This year’s theme is “The Pearl of the Chesapeake Christmas,” and applications may be picked up at the sponsoring organization, the Mathews County Visitor and Information Center, 239 Main Street. The parade committee is inviting residents and community organizations to “be as creative as you like” in making a float or any other type of entry that exhibits the parade’s theme, said a press release. Prizes will be awarded in the following categories: Civic, Animal, Walking Unit, School, Commercial, Motorized, Church, Parade Theme, and Antique Vehicle. Units will gather at the Thomas Hunter Education Center beginning at 11 a.m. for last-minute touch-ups to the entries and to get assigned positions from the check-in table.
