Russell Reed of Mathews won the second annual Mathews Marathon held Saturday by the Mathews Outdoor Club, in a race that attracted 85 individuals and also included a half marathon and relay.
The marathon course of 26.2 miles included three local beaches, Haven, Aaron’s and White’s Creek. The half-marathon of 13.1 miles turned around at Haven Beach.
Reed completed the full course in 3:18:05.8, outpacing second-place finisher Kerry Alexander, competing in the over-60 male masters plus group and ending second in 3:30.58.6. A virtual runner, Mathew Davis, was third in 3:36:07.
