The Red Knights defeated their White counterparts in the annual Gloucester Youth Football homecoming games, played on Saturday at Gloucester High School.
MITES: Red won 44-20.
For the Red squad, Xavier Washington led the offense with 167 yards rushing and five touchdowns, followed by Nehemiah Merritt (80 yards, TD), Kenley Williams (56 yards, extra point), Christian Burrell (37 yards, TD), Isaiah Ruff (20 yards, extra point), Cameron Machmud (13 yards) and Caleb Kovak (five yards). Josh Seaton led the defense with three tackles and a fumble recovery. Other defensive standouts were Hunter Syro (two tackles, fumble recovery), Caleb West (tackle, forced fumble), Mason Howard (two tackles, two sacks). Howard won the defensive MVP trophy, while Washington was named offensive MVP. Tanner Collier won offensive lineman of the game, and Josh Startt won the award for the defensive line.
