Recycle Right

The “Start Smart, Recycle Right” public awareness campaign by placed a call for artists in fall 2022 to find a local talent to create a recycling-themed LOVE sign. Tom Shirk and his students from Suffolk Public Schools’ College & Career Academy at Pruden created a welding piece filled with recyclable bottles and cans. The sign has been traveling through Hampton Roads since it was completed last April. It is now on display at the Gloucester County Public Library, Main Street Center location, until Feb. 15. Library staff posing with the sign are, from left: MaryAnn Moore, Sara Robbins, Carol Laros, Sidney Ripley, Kelseay Crowley and Nancy Halstead. The “Start Smart, Recycle Right” campaign encourages residents to create less waste and recycle.
