JELLY ROLL

4 eggs separated into 2 bowls. Add 4 to 5 Tbs. water to yolks depending on size of eggs. Add pinch of salt to whites. Beat whites until stiff. Beat yolks til frothy and lemon colored. Gradually add 1 c. sugar to yolks then 1 c. flour to which 1 tsp. baking powder has been added. Sift in from sifter into mixer. Add 1 tsp. vanilla. Fold all together by hand egg whites and yolk mixture. Line a jelly roll pan with waxed paper after greasing or a spraying slightly. Bake in 350°F. oven ’til it springs back to touch, about 12 minutes. Tip onto a opened brown paper bag; sprinkle with powdered sugar. Spread filling over and tilt paper to roll. Put powdered sugar on top. 

 

MARSHMALLOW TOPPED CHOCOLATE COOKIES

1 c. sugar

1 egg

½ c. shortening

Cream together.

1¾ c. flour

½ tsp. salt

½ tsp. soda

½ c. cocoa

Sift together. Mix and add

½ c. milk

1 tsp. vanilla
