Recipes for chocolate treats

MOTHER’S FUDGE

Combine 4½ c. white sugar, 1 tsp. salt, ¼ c. butter and 12 oz. evaporated milk. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Boil 7 minutes. Remove from heat and add 12 oz. chocolate chips, 2 bars sweet German chocolate, 7 oz. marshmallow cream and 1 Tbs. vanilla. Mix thoroughly. If you like nuts in fudge, add 1 c. chopped nuts. Pour into a buttered 9x13-inch dish.

CHOCOLATE COVERED CHERRY MICE

1 (12-oz.) jar maraschino cherries, with stems, drained and dried
6 oz. semisweet chocolate
½ tsp. butter
1 oz. paraffin wax, chopped
½ c. chocolate chips
½ c. sliced almonds
1 (3-oz.) pkg. red decorating gel

Line a cookie sheet with waxed or parchment paper. Rinse the maraschino cherries, drain thoroughly and let dry on paper towels, turning often. The cherries must be completely dry or the chocolate will seize and get crumbly.
