Reception Sunday for Guinea Jubilee artists

Entries in this year’s Guinea Jubilee Print Contest are now on display at the Point branch of the Gloucester Public Library, with a “Meet the Artist” reception planned for this Sunday at 2 p.m., also at the library.

The reception, which is free and open to the public, is being held by the Guinea Heritage Association and the Guinea Jubilee Committee.

“The GHA appreciates our local artists and wishes to share their talents with a celebration reception,” said Guinea Jubilee Art Chairman Leslie Belvin. “We encourage the public to meet the artists, view their art which captures the heart of Guinea, and enjoy some refreshments.” Participating artists will be recognized at 2:30 p.m.

The winning artist will be recognized Sept. 10 at the Guinea Heritage Day unveiling reception at the Abingdon Ruritan Club building in Bena. The winning artist will receive a cash prize of $750 and the runner-up will get $100.
