An opening reception for “Water,” an exhibit by award-winning artist Carolyn Thompson Dudley, will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, April 5, during First Friday at Arts on Main in Gloucester.

The show highlights Dudley’s impressionistic oil paintings, which combine vibrant colors, fluid movement, and nature-inspired themes to create beautiful and striking works, said a press release.

“Water is essential, reflective, dynamic, cooperative, demanding,” said Dudley in the release. “I am reflecting on these qualities of water in my recent paintings of scenes where water plays a leading role.”
