Reception Friday for Bay School exhibit

The Bay School Community Arts Center will host a reception for solo show of mixed media work by artist Allyson Childress from 5-7 p.m. Friday at the Mathews studio.

“Transformation” is about changing grief, rage and fear into art that reflects women’s innate power, potency and potential, said a press release. The reception is free and open to the public.

Childress attended the University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, where she studied ceramics and sculpture, graduating in 2010 with a B.A. in Studio Art. She has created large-scale installations and window displays for the international clothing brand Anthropologie and most recently designs and creates custom, one-of-a-kind pieces for commercial and residential spaces, said a press release.
