REBECCA CORNELL SLATTERY

A memorial service for Rebecca Cornell Slattery, 59, of Achilles, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 18, in Newtown United Methodist Church, Sandy Hook, Connecticut. She died Oct. 24, 2017.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Gerri Oberg Cornell and Kent B. Cornell, formerly of Glass, and a daughter, Meghan Cornell Blais.

Ms. Slattery graduated from the University of Connecticut with a degree in drug and alcohol counseling. She was previously employed as the director of the Victim Witness Program for Gloucester County, Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office. Prior to her employment for Gloucester County, she was a victim witness advocate for the city of Newport News.

She was a member of the Abingdon Ruritan Club of Bena, and the Red Hat Glamorous Gals of Gloucester. 

Survivors include her husband of 23 years, William G. Slattery of Achilles; a son, Ryan Blais of North Carolina; a sister, Tracy Kean of Newtown, Connecticut; a brother, David Cornell of Bethel, Connecticut, and a grandson.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are requested to the Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation, 641 S Street, N.W., Washington, D.C. 20001.
